Hi, I’m Jan.

Before moving to Cyprus, I spent 11 years working behind the scenes in luxury hospitality in London, first as part of the pre-opening engineering team as Director of engineering at the Chiltern Firehouse and later as Director of Engineering at The Connaught.

That experience taught me that a great stay is often defined by the small things: reliable systems, comfortable lighting and temperature, good connectivity, thoughtful technology and details that simply work without the guest having to think about them. A lot of that thinking has gone into Sabai.

These days I work remotely myself - occasionally from Sabai - building automation and technology solutions from Cyprus, so I also understand what makes a longer stay work for a digital nomad. Fast, dependable Wi-Fi and a proper place to work matter, but so does being able to close the laptop and immediately enjoy some sunshine, go for a walk by the sea, exercise, cook properly or relax outside. When I am not in Cyprus I am usually travelling in South East Asia.

Sabai brings those two parts of my life together. We wanted to create somewhere that feels less like a short-term rental and more like a thoughtfully run home — comfortable enough to settle into for a month or more, practical enough to work from every day, and in a location that makes it much easier to maintain a healthy balance between work and life.

I’m usually nearby and, with Sabai’s smart-home systems and Home Assistant, can often help remotely if something needs attention during your stay.
